Thomas Jefferson Chronister was a Union soldier in Company I of the 2nd Arkansas Cavalry. His pension file verifies the same information that you have given, except that it does not give the names of Nancy's parents.

Thomas married Nancy Ann Gentry 28 October 1883 in Sebastian County, Arkansas. She was born 11 February 1842 at Lounds County, Columbus, Mississippi. This is according to the applications that Thomas and Nancy filled out to receive pension.

CHRONISTER, GENTRY, GRIFFITH posted by Gary Chronister on Saturday, December 28, 1996

I am seeking information concerning my great grandfather, Thomas J. CHRONISTER, b 2/24/1827 in Lawrence Co. TN. He lived in Arkansas until approx. 1886 after being discharged from the 2nd Ark, Volunteer Calvary (Company I). His first wife was Tennessee GRIFFITH who d April 9, 1881 near Hartford, AR. I believe she may be buried in AR in the West Harmony Cemetery....Section 'A'...but I am unsure of the accruacy of this. If anyone can assist with marrriage record, death record of Tennessee, or any other records of substance that will shed light on Thomas and Tennessee I would greatly appreciate it. Also, Thomas is reported to have married Nancy Ann GENTRY on October 28, 1883 in Hartford, Arkansas by Rev. W.J. Patterson. A house fire in Hartford on June 2, 1893 reportedly destroyed many legal documents. If anyone can help supply marriage records on Thomas and Nancy this would be appreciated also. Thomas and Nancy are buried in my hometown of Hartshorne, Oklahoma.
Thanks in advance for your help, Gary L. Chronister

More information on Thomas Jefferson Chronister's mother, Tinzey Greenville Garrison. Her father was John Garrison, who is listed in the 1818 voter's list in Lawrence County, TN, but beyond that, I cannot find which famil he is from. In the 1850 census in AR, Thomas and Tennesse are living next door to Adam and Tinzey and a John Alfred Garrison and his wife Indianna and their children live next to Thomas and Tennessee. Also, not far away is a John Garrison and his young wife, Polly. His appears too young to be Tinzey's father, but could be her brother. Tinzy claimed to be Cherokee. Do you have any info on her or her parents? i have a copy of a marriage bond for a John Garrison and Elizabeth Johnson in 1804 in Lincoln County, NC. It was in some info a cousin sent me. I know the Chronisters lived in lincoln County, NC before moving to Tennessee.
