In 1870 Census, Union Twns, Conway Co, Arkansas, Syntha McMillan and three children: Hanes, 20, Isabella, 17 and Susan 13. Thomas does not appear. Has he died?
In the 1880 census for Faulkner Co, AR, Cynthian appears as "Synthy", 60 years old, head of household. Her 15 year-old grandson, William Lilly ( born 1865) is living with her. He must be son of Sarah Caroline who married William Lilly...
She appears as "Cyntian" in the 'Applicaton for Letters of Adminstration' settling her estate after her death in 1894. These papers are signed by "Thomas L. McMillen" -- probably a grandson??

County of Faulkner
Thomas L. McMillen
Here applying for Letters of Administration on the Estate of Cynthian McMillen, late of said County, being first duly sworn, deposes and says that the said Cynthian McMillen departed this life in Faulkner Co, Arkansas on or about the 4th day of September A.D. 1894.
That the said Cynthian McMillen died without making any will:
That, to the best of his knowledge and belief, the value of the Estate of the Deceased is about the sum of
Fifty DOLLARS.
That the names and residence of the heirs of deceased is as follows, viz:
D.G. McMillen, Horace McMillen, Isabella Kuykendall, Susan Sledge, Emma Faulk, Mattie Actin, John Hall, Children of James and D... Glen, All residents of Faulkner Co, Arks and Tine(?) Lilly, resident of Texas and P...p Lilley, resident of Yell Co, Arks. and Willima Lilly, residence unknown.
AND FURTHER, deposes and says the he will make a perfect Inventory of, and faithfully Administer, all and singular the Goods and Chattels, Rights and Credits of the Deceased, and pay his debts, as far as the assets which may come to his hands will extend, and the law direct; and that he will account for and pay over, according to law, all assets which shall come to his hands or possession. So help him God.
