Notas - The Levering Family History says: "He was and active citizen, and was a member of the Committee of Vigilance if Baltimore, during the Revolution. His name is found among the list of the Republican Citizens of Baltimore, who signed a Copy of theDeclaration of Independence, at the Court House, (in Baltimore) in 1776. Both (he and his wife) were members of the First Presbyterian Church of B."
He died at age 49. The Levering family history has the date as Nov 1, 1764, but this year is obviously an error. His tombstone reads 1794 (see below).

Baltimore Maryland, on the grounds of "Westmisnter Hall and Burrying Ground" reachable from teh intersection of West Fayette Street and Norht Greene Street.
Headstone: "John Brown Who departed this life November 4th 1794 inthe 49th Year of his Age"
Footstone: "J.B. 1794"
Buried in the same site are his wife Sarah (1832) and the six of their 10 children who died in infancy.
